this week in Zumba

The time is come. My LAST two days teaching Zumba at theGYMkc is here :(

AIR CONDITIONING
It's fixed! It's a lovely 75 degrees in there. YAY.

WEDNESDAY
After the 2nd class on Wednesday we're going to walk over to Manny's for my goodbye party.


Margaritas, chips & salsa isn't the most healthy thing to have after a workout. But, oh well! I hope to see you there at 8p.

It's been wonderful and I thank all of your smiling faces for coming to my Zumba class :) I can't believe it's been five years!

All good things must come to an end. Keep the party going!

Insanity, day 24 & 25

Ok. I'm going to take a break from the Insanity workout. WHEW!


Yesterday was my last workout for a couple of weeks. Why? Well, we're moving to Miami in 10 days! OMG! I have so much to do and I do not have the extra time to workout. My plan was to workout up to moving day, but I changed my mind.

I know, I know. It sounds like a copout. I should make time for myself and workout. But you try moving 1,500 miles and you let me know how it goes.

Insanity, day 22

Day 22 already?!? Where did this month go?

Today in my Zumba class on of my gals told me that she saw an improvement in me since I started the Insanity workout. She said I have more energy and lighter on my feet!

Insanity, day 20

The Insanity workouts have been going fair. I've been using an awesome mat since the very 1st day.


It's an all purpose fitness mat. So I use it for the entire workout so I'm not jumping and jogging on the hardwood floor. And it's nice and cushy for the push-ups.

Insanity, day 18

Whoo-hooo! It's my favorite Insanity workout today. Cardio Recovery. Ah... the stretching and toning is a nice change from sweating my butt off!


BTW, this is my FAVORITE juice to make. Juice 4 carrots, 2 red delicious apples, and a nice slice of fresh ginger. YUM!

Insanity, day 15

OMG... it's been 2 weeks since I started the Insanity workout and time for the Fit Test again.

I took the Fit Test on day 1 and I was anxious to see if I improved. And I DID! Most improved were the push-up jacks. I started with 4 and today I managed 11.5! Yes, I'm counting the 1/2 a push up I did. Those things are hard >_<

I also taught my two Zumba classes tonight. Having the music on random is fun, and... random! The 2nd class had LOTS of surprises which made for a very sweaty workout.

Insanity, day 14

DAY OFF!

I have a brunch with the girls and a blogger shopping event with dessert and bellini's.


I don't like to watch my weight because the numbers are always out of whack. When I started the Insanity I weighed:
• 150 on 7/1
• 147 on 7/3
• 148 on 7/8
• 146 on 7/13
And now 149! I don't get it!

So let's look at inches:
• total 1.75" off my tummy
• total .5" off my bootie/hips
• total .5" off my thighs

Let's see what next week brings!

Insanity, day 13

I'm feeling much better from last night's tummy ache. However, I wasn't looking toward doing Insanity Pure Cardio AND Pure Abs! Pure Abs? I haven't done that workout yet...


I decided to throw on my Zaggora Hot Pants to sweat a little extra to make up for yesterday. Let's just say I wasn't looking forward to pealing them off after the workout! But, you're supposed to loose weight 4x faster when you wear Zaggora Hot Pants!

Insanity, day 12

I dunno what the deal is. Maybe Friday the 13th has me all screwed up. Or was it the margarita's I had last night? I was not in the mood to do Insanity at all. I think I did my poorest ever!

All day I was in a funk and couldn't wake up. Not even a Red Bull got me going! I even ended up with a terrible tummy ache and went to bed early.

Ah.... maybe tomorrow.

Insanity, day 11

I just LOVE the Insanity Cardio Recovery. It always shows up when I'm not in the mood for sweating my tail of. The Cardio Recovery is great toning and stretching.

Today I also tried Starbucks new Very Berry Hibiscus drink with whole blackberries. It's their NEW natural energy made from green coffee extract from their Refreshers™ line. It was SO GOOD!

I used to be a Starbucks barista. And I enjoyed the Very Berry Hibiscus drink much more than the passion teas they used to have. I can't wait to try the whole line of products!

Insanity, day 10


Wow. Last Wednesday was the 4th and my body was sore. Today I got a late start on my Insanity workout and I taught my Zumba class for 2 hours. And I can happily say that I'M ALIVE!

I'm getting faster and stronger at the exercises and my body is starting to firm up!

Insanity, day 9

Day 9 of the Insanity workout and I'm tired today. My husband and I had cocktails with a late lunch today and I went home and too a 1.5 hour nap!

As a vegetarian I need to be sure I have enough protein in my diet. Especially with strenuous workouts. So I like to eat boiled eggs. Last week I tried out baking my boiled eggs.


I've heard that baking your eggs instead of boiling them in water is supposed to make them taste better and the shell is supposed to peal off easier.

All you do is:
• Place your eggs in a muffin pan so they don't roll around.  
• Bake at 325 degrees for 25 min.
• Cool eggs in a bowl of cold water for 10 min.

It was so easy. No eggs were cracked like the usually are when boiling. I found the pealing to be normal and they taste just fine. 

I'll be baking my eggs again!

Insanity, day 8

I ran across this virtual weight stimulator to see what you would look like at a certain weight.

So I put in my current weight, 147 lbs. My goal weight is 132 lbs, but I put in 125 lbs because I could hardly see the difference.

First of all, I wish I had this lady's legs. Second, I like the 147 lbs image better! The 125 lbs has scrawny legs, but I do like the tummy area better.

And I just noticed that I have a bathing suit almost identical! HA!

Anywho, today was day 8 of the Insanity workout AND I had to teach 2 hours of Zumba. And... I feel great (much better than yesterday)! I'm improving in some areas of the Insanity workout and some parts I just need to take a rest.

Insanity, day 7

Today is my day off from the Insanity workout. And I must say I'm the most tired that I've been in awhile!

Since day 3 I've been feeling energized for the whole day after the workout. So I don't know what the deal is. Maybe my body missed it today?!?

Since last Sunday I've lost:
• 2 lbs
• 1" off my tummy
• .25" off my bootie/hips
• .5" off my thighs

Insanity, day 6

Today I did the Pylometric Cardio Circut of the Insanity workout that I did on day 2. Uhm, it was still difficult. I think I did better at jumping jacks thought! And knowing that I didn't have to do ANY of it on Sunday made me push through.

I made a yummy fruit smoothie in my Vitamix for breakfast. Again, so glad I don't have to workout tomorrow!

Pure Cardio... whew!

I don't even remember what happened during or after the Insanity workout. I was just sweaty.

However, I felt great the rest of the day! I had good energy and I wasn't sore. Day 3 really stretched out the kinks.

Insanity, day 4

Thank the heavens that today's Insanity workout was Cardio Recovery because my muscles were tired. Especially my back. The Cardio Recovery was lots of stretching and lower body toning.

My husband and I have ben drinking Vega Pre-Workout Energizer before our workout and Vega Performance Protein after workout. We also have some of the Vega Energizing Smoothies too.

Yesterday we took a 3 hour nap after our 4th of July dinner. It was very well needed. I feel very refreshed today and ready for tomorrow's workout! Pure Cardio.

Insanity, day 3

I woke up this 4th of July morning stiff. Back tight, butt sore and difficult to walk on my left ankle.

But I was excited to put on my new Zumba kicks that came in the mail yesterday (they were 1/2 off!)! For the Cardio Power & Resistance of the Insanity workout Shaun T. came out with a long sleeve shirt on. So I thought, "hey, we're not going to get too hot today!" NOT! 

Again I did the girly pushups. And I did a little yoga after to stretch out.

We went to Whole Foods today to get 4th of July dinner and I didn't feel the need to put on leggings under my dress to cover up my leg! We had BBQ tofu, macaroni salad, coleslaw, grilled asparagus salad, potato salad and some chips. 

So glad I didn't have to teach Zumba yesterday because we took a 3 hour nap instead! Ready for tomorrow... I think.

Insanity, day 2

Yesterday was just the 30 min Fit Test for the Insanity workout. I did the best I could and taught my usual 2 hour Zumba class. With songs being on random it was a blast! I felt great and I probably worked out a bit harder than usual.

My left ankle is a little sore. So I put on my Zensah compression sleeves before I went to bed.

Day 2 was the Pylometric Cardio Circut. It was difficult. Sweat was dripping off my forehead and into my eyes! My husband and I had to modify. For me it was the pushups. Form over quickness!

We haven't done any situps, but my abs hurt when I sneeze! LOL! And my back is a bit tight. 

I'm so glad that it's the 4th tomorrow and Zumba class has been canceled! Therefore I can do the Cardio Power & Resistance workout and not worry about having to teach class. 

We're ready for tomorrow!

this week in Zumba

Wow it's July already, and this is officially my last month teaching Zumba at theGYMkc Westside. August 1st will be my last day. After the 6:45p class we'll head on over to Manny's down the street for margaritas! (Real healthy after a workout, eh?)

WORKING OUT
Today my husband and I started the Insanity workout!



Yes, I'm doing Insanity on top of teaching class. We're trying to get beach body ready for our move to Miami.

Our workouts are at 10a, Monday - Saturday. So I should have enough recovery time to teach Zumba class. Today was the 30 minute Fit Test. I did about 3 push-ups. YIKES!

I'll post my daily reports here on the blog. Stay tuned!
