fitness & sleep

The Fitbit accurately tracks your calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled and sleep quality. It contains a 3D motion sensor like the one found in the Nintendo Wii.

You can wear the Fitbit Tracker loosely in your pocket, clipped to your pants, shirt, bra or to your wrist when you are sleeping. You can wear it all day!

TOO COOL! And not bad for $99.

SYTYCD

I can't believe two people are gone from the TOP 20 So You Think You Can Dance already! Seems like we just got started.

I just can't pick who the winner is going to be. I always have mixed feelings on the first show because it's the first time the couples are dancing together.

I agree that Brandon went home. But I think that Ariana should have stayed and Pauline went home. I think Ariana danced much harder. And why did Russell have to dance for his life? First of all he had a new partner at the last minute and had to lift her big tail twice. And the judges were liking what he did. So why make him dance for his life? Anywho, he danced his tail off!!! WOW!

Nappy-Tabs just needs to go. I HATE their duet "love" smooth hip-hop routines. It's the same moves EVERY TIME. And I HATE that they have to wear their little hip-hop hats and hip-hop gear when they are choreograph. But then when they are in the audience they have their biz casual gear on. So when they wear their hip-hop outfits is it supposed to help them channel their hip-hopness? Uh, I think not. Try again!

I think I'm more into the actual choreographers than the dancers right now.

The opening number by Wade (and who else?) with the four gangs was da bomb. Travis' contemporary was nice. Sonya's contemporary jazz was off da chain! And Dave Scott's caveman hip hop was great (Nappy-Tabs please take note). And who does the cha cha to "Push It?"

Here is all of the music from last night.

this week in Zumba

ZUMBA MUSIC THIS WEEK:
• Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: smorgasbord

The majority of the songs from this week are from last week. But I made it a little less INTENSE! I moved some things around and added our beloved arm song (Again and Again).

LOVE this street "FAME" look photo of So You Think You Can Dance season 6 Top 20!

Meet the Top 20 special tonight 8/7c. You can also see the video of their photo shoot on too.

I dunno who I'm picking for the winner yet. Last season I tried to have a little contest on my blog to see who could pick the winner. But I ended up being the closest!

Remember SYTYCD airs Tuesdays and Wednesday 8/7c.

Latin Music in the USA

I just caugth the replay of PBS Latin Music in the USA.

From Latin jazz and mambo to salsa, Tejano, Chicano rock, Latin pop and reggaeton, Latin Music in the USA tells the story of the rise of new American music forged from powerful Latin roots and reveals the often overlooked influence of Latin music on jazz, hip hop, rhythm and blues and rock 'n' roll — and on all of American culture.

I LOVE to use reggaeton in my Zumba class. It was interesting to learn it's roots.

Watch it here and here.

ZUMBA MUSIC THIS WEEK:
• Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday: bootie popin' and hip shakin'

This week's class is going to be INTENSE! My hips are still sore from working out a few more new songs last night.

Zumba has come out with some good songs lately. The new songs I just added this month is from Zumba. And I've just added two more!

So we're doing basically a smorgasbord with Latin reggaeton, hip-hop, belly dancing, West African and pop.

Also a new warm-up song called Let Me Think About It. I've been playing it in the music before class and I've gotten lots of questions of who is it. Here's the video:

I also got two requests. Pitbull's Call Me Ocho (I Know You Want Me). And another for Fergie's London Bridge.

If you have a request of a song we did or a suggestion for a new song leave a comment here or let me know in class.

NFL Ballet

I'm not NFL fan, but I found this video to be pretty cool.

dance and TV

Yesterday I realized that I missed two episodes of season 4 of Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team!

However, I was able to DVR the replays so I can catch up. Yes to technology!

Yes... I've watched the previous three episodes of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. I like the show! I used to be a cheerleader and I like seeing the audition process. It's the only time I watch CMT.

Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders: Making the Team! comes on Saturdays 9/8C. Check the listings so you can catch up too!

And Wednesday So You Think You Can Dance will pick the TOP 20!

I just LOVE this show! Watching the dancers expressing themselves through their craft is just so amazing and breathtaking. I'll never be able to dance like that. And I'll never be able to fit in a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader uniform. But it's nice to pretend so!

hey, hey, hey!

We did 3 miles yesterday in our hip-hop theme Zumba. So that means we do an average of 3.25 miles every class!

HEY!

And a new visitor to my class blogged about me yesterday! How sweet!
